Giant Panda Housewarming Celebration | Smithsonian National Zoo,  February 23

The Giant Panda Housewarming Celebration, sponsored by Airbnb, is free to the public and will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by activities throughout the day. Visitors can talk with panda scientists and keepers, and young panda fans can enjoy a coloring station. The giant pandas and red pandas will receive special frozen treats throughout the day, and snacks will be available for human visitors as well.  Free, 9:30am

DC Fashion Week | Various,  February 22

Check out autumn/winter fashion collections at DC Fashion Week. The weekend starts on Friday night with an awards show and pop-up shop at The Washington Court Hotel. On Saturday, see the new designs at the emerging designers showcase in the Liaison Hotel, while on Sunday, and international designers will show their latest collections at the Embassy of France. Blind Tasting Workshop | City Winery, February 23

Even though it may seem intimidating, you don’t need to be a wine expert to be able to blind taste; just a little bit of book knowledge about some common grape varietals and lots of practice (i.e lots of drinking). Over the course of the evening, our resident sommelier will help you taste and analyze 4 wines, so you’ll be able to make a successful conclusion about what’s in your glass just like the pros. Pet Adoption Show | Bowie Petsmart, February 23

We do not have a central shelter facility, so the best place to meet our adoptable cats and dogs is at an adoption show. Our general schedule is below, but we hold special shows periodically at alternate locations. Be sure to check our calendar for the date and location of the next show. If you have previously filled out an adoption application, please print it out and bring it with you. We cannot guarantee that an animal you want to meet will be at the show. Adina Howard / Big Daddy Kane | Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supperclub, February 22

Big Daddy Kane is a Brooklyn, New York M.C. who undisputedly defined the term “lyricist” in the world of hip-hop. Along with the lyrical ingenuity he brought to the genre, he also introduced innovative live performances as well. Kane was the first rapper to ever hold not one but two sold out shows at the world famous Apollo Theater for women only. These lives performances, which consisted of theatrics, choreography and tailored costumes proved that Big Daddy Kane was not only an M.C., he was a full entertainer. Jeffrey Osborne | Birchmere, February 24

Osborne’s solo career has brought him four grammy nominations,  five gold and platinum albums, including his debut self entitled album ” Jeffrey Osborne”, “Stay with Me Tonight” and “Only Human”.He scored an international hit with “On the Wings of Love” in 1982. After his six albums released on A&M during the ’80s, he moved to Arista for Only Human (1990), then switched to a series of independent labels. His releases during the 2000s included ” That’s for Sure” (2000) and “Music Is Life” (2003), as well as cover albums ” From the Soul “(2005) and “A Time for Love” (2013). His latest project entitled “Worth It All” is being released in 2018 on Artistry Music. $79.50, 7:30pm
